Help Fill An Empty Seat

The FAIRtax is sponsored by Americans For Fair Taxation (“AFFT”), which is managed by a nine-member Board of Directors elected by a Board of Delegates chosen by FAIRtax supporters in the states.

The FAIRtax relies on the dedication and activities of its supporters. There is no paid staff and the burden of operations falls squarely on our volunteers.  We are fortunate that people are willing to step up and take the additional responsibility of being on the Board of Directors.

Recently Board member Peggy Green-Ernst resigned from the Board and from her position as Director of Government Relations to spend more time with her family. We will miss Peggy’s contributions both on the Board and as a Government Relations Director.

The By-Laws of AFFT provide for the remaining board members to fill vacancies that occur on the Board of Directors. At the last Board meeting the board members decided to reach out to you, the volunteers who keep this movement going, for nominations.

If you would like to nominate a replacement for Peggy, including yourself, please send the nomination, together with a short C.V., to a delegate who represents your state. You will find a list of delegates here.

If you are from a state that does not have a delegate, please send your nomination directly to Louisiana Delegate Doug Opbroek.

Board members are expected to participate in at least one monthly telephone conference and serve on a Team. Currently the teams are Planning, Strategy and Tactics, Research, Finance and Fundraising, Credentials Rules Organization Structure (“CORS”), Database, and Marketing and Communications. Board Members can also be asked once a year to pay their own travel expenses to attend an in-person meeting.

Please send your nominations to your delegate or to Doug by July 7, 2017. The CORS Team will then review the nominations and make a recommendation to the full board at its next conference on July 11, 2017. The Board of Directors will ask the Board of Delegates to ratify its choice at the Delegates’ quarterly phone conference on July 20, 2017.

The FAIRtax is a marathon, not a sprint. With your help we will fill our board with good members that make our movement go the distance and reach the finish line.
