The AFFT $10.40 Club and The FairTax Campaign
I am delighted to report that more and more of you are responding to our need to fund the FairTax campaign. As we discussed we only need 3000 people to contribute $10.40/month to AFFT to cover our basic expenses. Your financial support opens the door to more funding and more rapid movement toward enacting the FairTax. FairTax Chronicles
For the past two weeks, I have been discussing the funding previously provided by the FairTax Chronicles. We plan to start sending out a new FairTax Chronicles within the next two weeks. If you do not want to receive Chronicle messages, you will always have the option of opting out of the sponsored Chronicle messages without affecting your receipt of other FairTax communications. We hope you won’t though, because supporting the Chronicles program is an easy way to help fund the FairTax tax campaign. Look for more information in the coming weeks.
A Fond Farewell and A Huge Thank You
Cindy Canavero has been the Executive Director of AFFT since 2011. She is one of those people who doesn’t just have a job but is on a mission. Since I have had the pleasure of working with Cindy, I have seen this demonstrated again and again. Many times she has emailed me at 5 AM and at 11pm. She doesn’t go off the clock but has always worked hard to advance the FairTax.
Cindy has not only been my friend but the friend of all FairTaxers. As a young staffer, she worked with Ronald Reagan’s 1980 campaign and came to Washington, D.C. after he was elected. I found that Cindy was one of those people President Reagan was referring to when he said, “Surround yourself with the best people you can find, delegate authority, and don't interfere as long as the policy you've decided upon is being carried out.”
This is why I was happy for Cindy but sad for AFFT, when she told me about an incredible offer from McNair Enterprises that she had decided to accept. I felt like Abraham Lincoln after he lost the 1858 Senate election. He said, "I feel like the boy who stubbed his toe,It hurts too much to laugh and I'm too big to cry."
Cindy, I know that your new job promises more time to spend with your husband and son and this is great. But I will also say that it is not in your DNA to “just have a job.” I am sure that you will accomplish much more than the McNair family dreamed possible.
In closing, on behalf of all FairTaxers, I wish you well and close with a quote from Tom Petty, “You and I will meet again, When we're least expecting it, One day in some far off place, I will recognize your face, I won't say goodbye my friend, For you and I will meet again.”
