Peggy Ernst-Green, AFFT’S New Director of Government Relations and the Grassroots
Peggy Ernst-Green has really hit the ground running. She has scheduled a very full four days of meetings in Washington, D.C. next week. It is very evident that many of the meetings are being arranged because of contacts between the grassroots in their districts or states and the Members’ offices.
Please contact your Members of the House and Senate and ask them to meet with AFFT representatives when we come to Washington. Then when you get a response from the Member’s office please forward to Peggy.Green-Ernst@FairTax.org. Peggy can then contact the office and arrange an appointment.
We will provide you a full report on our meetings next week.
Another Reminder: FairTax Chronicles
We are in the process of selecting the first sponsor for our new FairTax Chronicles initiative. As I have said before, the Chronicles is a great way to receive information from a variety of FairTax sponsors while helping AFFT raise much needed funds – all from the convenience of your computer or phone. And remember, if you do not want to receive Chronicle messages, you always have the option of opting out without affecting your receipt of other FairTax communications. We hope you won’t though, because supporting the Chronicles program is an easy way to help fund the FairTax tax campaign. We looking forward to bringing this important program back to AFFT!
Large Donors and Special Projects
As we continue to get more people contributing a minimum of $10.40 per month to meet our minimal operating needs, we are reaching out to larger donors who recognize that we are the only real grassroots organization promoting tax reform.
These larger donors want to fund specific projects—like our district targeting plan. We have selected Members of the House Ways and Means Committee who can ensure that the FairTax is debated by the full committee and a vote is taken. Each of the districts of these selected Members receives a team of FairTax operatives who organize their district and ensure that maximum pressure is placed on the Member from voters in the district. The idea of having FairTax signs in the yards of the neighbors of the Ways and Means Committee Members brings smiles to the faces of these prospective donors and to each of us.
If you have some specific projects that you believe will advance the FairTax please send them to Peggy or me. If you have a potential donor with whom we should speak please let us know and we will arrange to see them.
Thank you for staying FairTax strong!
