Grassroots Corner 1/18/19

CHARLOTTE 2020

Start packing your bags for the National Republican Convention in Charlotte, North Carolina in August 2020!  There are a few ways to attend...as a delegate, as a convention volunteer, as a holder of a press pass, or as a vendor or host of a hospitality suite.  North Carolina State Director, Laura McCue, proposed looking into becoming a vendor at the Convention.  She and other AFFT state directors have often successfully hosted vendor booths at their state and local conventions, and this promises to be an important one for us.  Laura has written the 2020 Convention host committee about vendor and hospitality room opportunities and was able to obtain the name of the person in charge of the convention.  She has actually made a FairTax presentation to a group including this person in the past!   Currently, Laura is waiting to hear back from this convention director.

The theme for the convention is to be “Diversity and Inclusion.” Laura thinks that North Carolina District 11 Congressman and head of the congressional Freedom Caucus, Mark Meadows, might be able to help us.  There was further discussion about getting a hospitality suite, possibly asking Mike Huckabee for help and guidance.

At the October 2018 Board of Directors’ Conference of Americans For Fair Taxation, Laura was designated the coordinator for these events. If you want to help Laura, you can contact her at laura@wofm.us.

The Republican Convention will take place from August 24, 2020 to August 27, 2020.

The Democratic Convention will take place July 13, 2020 to July 16, 2020 in a city yet to be chosen. If anyone has contacts with the Chair of that convention and would like to help set up participation, please let Jim Bennett know.

We thank Laura McCue for contributing this week’s Grassroots Corner.
