TAX CUTS AND JOBS ACT – WHAT’S IT DOING TO US?
A small minority of FAIRtax members say they are discouraged, and membership has fallen off, because Congress passed what it thinks is tax reform this year. This minority thinks it will take a generation before another window opens for the FAIRtax. They are wrong.
For sure the Tax Cuts and Jobs Act moved America from Number One in business taxation to somewhere in the middle of the pack. But why settle for the middle of the pack? The FAIRtax would make America Number One in business and job creation. And why settle for the TC&JA, which is nothing more than an overlay grafted onto the current tax code?
A couple of members have said we need to get to President Trump. Indeed we have trees to shake and are shaking the trees. But we are not the only group that wants to get to the President.
Our prime strategy is to build – and rebuild - the FAIRtax team in each state. When the pendulum swings back, and it will soon, we need to be ready on the ground to get to Congress. As we know, Congress Members do not listen well to facts or to the logical arguments constructed from facts. And one person in a Congressional District meeting with his or her Member of Congress, while certainly helpful, will not be enough. Congress Members listen to numbers. We will need the structure to produce the numbers. And we need you to produce the structure.
We can help you organize from here with model by-laws, a support database, and, hopefully soon, insurance coverage for your events.
Once we have the numbers, we need to keep up a steady and sustainable drumbeat. Please let us have your ideas for keeping supporters engaged and beating drums once we have them on board. To use another metaphor, this is a marathon. Unlike a political campaign, this is not a sprint.

CALL FOR PICTURES AND WRITEUPS
We need more of you to send in pictures and news. If you have anything to share, please send your material to me at jim.bennett@fairtax.org, or text me at (908) 578-4975, or fax me at (908) 598-2888. When others see your activity, they are inspired, and the process snowballs. When the process snowballs, Congress Members and Senators and, yes, even the President start to listen.
