NEED SIX REENLISTMENTS
We need your help to get six Congress Members who were co-sponsors of the FAIRtax bill in the last Congress to get back on the bill. Here’s the story. Last Congress we had Congressman Rob Woodall, GA-07, plus 47 co-sponsors in the House of Representatives on our bill, HR25. This year so far we have Rob Woodall plus 29. That’s a difference of 18.
But out of those 18, twelve did not return to Congress in January. That leaves six who were on the bill last time who are not co-sponsors now. We need to work on them. Here they are:
Member | Party | District | DC Phone | DC Fax | Website |
---|---|---|---|---|---|
Ferguson, Drew A | R | GA-03 | (202) 225-5901 | (202) 225-2515 | http://Ferguson.House.Gov |
Flores, Bill | R | TX-17 | (202) 225-6105 | (202) 225-0350 | http://Flores.House.Gov |
Graves, Sam | R | TN-02 | (202) 225-7041 | (202) 225-8221 | http://Graves.House.Gov |
Long, Billy | R | MO-07 | (202) 225-6536 | (202) 225-5604 | http://Long.House.Gov |
Marchant, Kenny | R | TX-24 | (202) 225-6605 | (202) 225-0074 | http://Marchant.House.Gov |
Olson, Pete | R | TX-22 | (202) 225-5951 | (202) 225-5241 | http://Olson.House.Gov |
If you live in the Congress Member’s district, great! You can go on the Member’s web site and use the “contact” option to communicate with the Member. Give ‘em a little jazz – politely – about the fact that they were on the bill last time and they do not show up on this session’s list. Congress Members listen intently to those who live in their Districts. For every constituent who takes the trouble to contact the Member, the Member believes there are probably a hundred who agree.
The rest of you who do not live in the Members’ Districts will need to either call the Member’s office or send a fax. If you do, identify yourself as a FAIRtax supporter so that the Member’s office will understand why you are contacting a Member who does not represent your geographical district – and why you are contacting a Member for whom you cannot vote.
Co-sponsorship is not a perfect measure of our strength, but it – and the size of our support base - are the best indicators we’ve got. If we can at least get all the previous co-sponsors back on the bill, that will be just as important as getting new co-sponsors – perhaps greater. All the Congress Members who are on the bill this year were co-sponsors last year.
We are working on getting the bill re-introduced in the Senate, too. Last time the sponsors were Senator Jerry Moran of Kansas, and co-sponsors were Senator David Perdue of Georgia. Senator Johnny Isakson, Georgia, Senator James Inhofe, Oklahoma, and Senator James Lankford, Oklahoma. All five are still in the Senate. Here is their contact information:
Member | Party | State | DC Phone | DC Fax | Website |
---|---|---|---|---|---|
Moran, Jerry | R | KS | (202) 224-6521 | (202) 228-6966 | http://Moran.Senate.Gov |
Perdue, David | R | GA | (202) 224-3521 | (202) 228-1031 | http://Perdue.Senate.Gov |
Isakson, Johnny | R | GA | (202) 224-3643 | (202) 228-0724 | http://Isakson.Senate.Gov |
Inhofe, James M. | R | OK | (202) 224-4721 | (202) 228-0380 | http://Inhofe.Senate.Gov |
Lankford, James | R | OK | (202) 224-5754 | (202) 228-1015 | http://Lankford.Senate.Gov |
You do not have to wait for us to act before reaching out to these Senators. If you live in their states – all the better! Encourage the Senators to lean on Senator Moran to re-introduce the FAIRtax in the Senate.
Send me a note to let me know what you attempted and how, if anything, you did.

CALL FOR PICTURES AND WRITEUPS
We need MORE of you to send in pictures and news. If you have anything to share, please send your material to me at jim.bennett@fairtax.org, or text me at (908) 578-4975, or fax me at (908) 598-2888. When others see your activity, they are inspired, and the process snowballs. When the process snowballs, Congress Members and Senators and, yes, even the President start to listen.
