MEET OUR NEW DIRECTOR
We are pleased to introduce our newest member of the FAIRtax Board of Directors, Larry Smith, from Truro, Iowa. Truro is south of Des Moines. Several years ago, Larry went to a political event at the state fair and saw a swarm of FAIRtax people. The FAIRtax-ers invited Larry and others to enter a contest to write an essay on the FAIRtax. Larry won first place. Larry believes that we need a tax plan to benefit the whole country that is fair.
Larry is an entrepreneur, missionary, Baptist pastor, and Gospel singer, as well as formerly one of the ten select few members of the Iowa Republican Central Committee. Larry is politically active and is interested in attracting Democrats as well to the FAIRtax.
Larry comes from a key state because Iowa is home to the first-in-the-nation Straw Poll, followed by the first-in-the nation Iowa Caucuses. It is important to have representation there for the FAIRtax. There was a vibrant organization in Iowa in past years, and we plan to reignite the energy.
Larry fills the vacancy on the nine-member Board of Directors created by the resignation of Jeff Shepherd, whose professional obligations kept him away. Whenever a vacancy occurs on the Board between elections by the Board of Delegates, the CORS Team (Credentials, Organization, Rules, Structure) obtains a list of candidates and recommends one to the Board of Directors. The CORS Team was pleased to recommend Larry.
Larry, welcome aboard!

CALL FOR PICTURES AND WRITEUPS
We need more of you to send in pictures and news, just as Ron Maiellaro did. If you have anything to share, please send your material to me at jim.bennett@fairtax.org, or text me at (908) 578-4975, or fax me at (908) 598-2888. When others see your activity, they are inspired, and the process snowballs. When the process snowballs, Congress Members and Senators and, yes, even the President start to listen.
