SPOTLIGHT ON NEBRASKA

One of our more active FAIRtax state organizations is Nebraska. President Rob Rohrbough of Omaha calls monthly dinner meetings with programs. Despite the expanse of the state, people travel distances to attend.

Earlier this month taxpayer advocate Doug Kagan (pictured below), President of Nebraska Taxpayers for Freedom since 1978, addressed the gathering about state and local tax issues and initiatives underway from various groups. Among Doug’s achievements was to keep the lid on the property tax levy that the Omaha school district could impose on its residents by statute.

Future programs for Nebraska include remarks from State Senator Brett Lindstrom, State Senator Lou Ann Linehan, and Professor Mike Godfrey from Bellevue University, Bellevue, Nebraska.

President Rob Rohrbough (pictured below on a trip to Israel) had a career in software development and software quality assurance, after which he ran a computer consultancy for sixteen years specializing in health insurance and claims analysis.  Rob started Omaha 3D Woodcarvers, a company that takes computer images and carves them into wall hangings and custom-built furniture.

Rob joined FAIRtax with advocate Floyd Zabel. Both promoted the FAIRtax to the Tax Modernization Committee of Nebraska’s unicameral legislature. Rob also developed resolutions for adding a FAIRtax plank to both county and the state Republican platforms, and he helped to create a candidate vetting program. Congratulations to Rob are also in order because Rob is getting married within a month.

Nebraska has three congressional districts represented by Jeff Fortenberry, Don Bacon and Adrian Smith, all Republicans. Nebraska’s Senators are Deb Fischer and Ben Sasse, also Republicans.

Rob and advisory board member Scott Petersen (pictured below) will be the new delegates to the FAIRtax Board of Delegates from Nebraska.

Scott owns Chase Marketing, LLC. He and Kyle Clark work extensively for Congressman Don Bacon in addition to being our database managers for the YourMembership platform.

CALL FOR PICTURES AND WRITEUPS

We need more of you to send in pictures and news, just as Ron Maiellaro did.  If you have anything to share, please send your material to me at jim.bennett@fairtax.org, or text me at (908) 578-4975, or fax me at (908) 598-2888. When others see your activity, they are inspired, and the process snowballs. When the process snowballs, Congress Members and Senators and, yes, even the President start to listen.
