The Chairman's Report March 12, 2021

The FAIRtax is a non-partisan issue.  Because of the benefits to lower income citizens and the economic growth it will bring, it is legislation that both parties—if they were really interested in their constituencies and not their own power, would endorse.  When there is an opportunity to educate people about the FAIRtax, the FAIRtax Guys are there.

If you want to enjoy their unique talent for explaining the FAIRtax in an educational but fun manner, you can tune into their weekly show on Tuesdays at 8:00 PM Eastern on the FAIRtax Official Facebook page, or listen to previous shows at

The FAIRtax Guys are Ron Maiellaro and Bob Paxton.  Their producer is Elaine Maiellaro.  Ron, Bob and Elaine wrote the following description of what they encountered at CPAC.

The COVID crisis presented the FAIRtax Guys with a golden opportunity.  Because the DC area is still under COVID lockdown, the annual CPAC (Conservative Political Action Conference) meeting was moved to Orlando.  Having such a major gathering of political and media people right in our back yard was a chance we couldn’t pass up.

Rather than spend $4000 on a booth that would require us to spend most of our time in the vendor/exhibitor area well removed from the main stage, we just purchased regular tickets, donned our new FAIRtax Power Radio shirts and walked around with our camcorder and microphone.

Unfortunately, the really high-profile attendees like Ted Cruz, Matt Gaetz, Leo Terrell, and Marsha Blackburn were in extremely high demand and we were unable to secure interviews with them.  However, Ron Maiellaro was able to get a brief word with Congressman Gaetz and hand him a Prebate card.

While they didn’t appear on camera with us, we did have pleasant conversations with nationally syndicated radio hosts Buck Sexton and Ben Ferguson.  Sexton politely listened to our brief pitch for the FAIRtax, took one of our cards and posed for a still photo with us.  However, we didn’t sense any real enthusiasm on his part for the FAIRtax.  Probably not a lot of potential there.

On the other hand, upon seeing our FAIRtax shirts, Ferguson greeted us enthusiastically and encouraged us to keep fighting the good fight.  Here’s someone with a national platform who could be an effective FAIRtax advocate.  Since Neal Boortz retired, we’ve not had a national voice on the radio.  Ferguson looks like someone who might be willing to step into that role with a little encouragement.  Some follow up with him is definitely in order.

Other productive off-camera contacts included conversations with Byron Donalds and Rubin Young.  Donalds represents Florida’s 19th Congressional district.  He signed the FAIRtax Candidate Pledge during the campaign, but has not yet followed through and become a FAIRtax co-sponsor.  He has a friendly rivalry going with Representative Kat Cammack of District 3.   When we reminded him that Cammack has already signed on to the bill, he assured us that he will not be far behind.

Young is exactly the kind of person we love to meet and talk to.  He will be running in the 2022 election in Florida’s 23rd district.  His goal is to unseat incumbent Debbie Wasserman Schultz.  When we asked, he admitted to knowing very little about the FAIRtax.  As we explained it to him, we could see the light bulb come on as he began to realize what a great idea the FAIRtax is.  Before we left him, he asked if we would be willing to come to south Florida to educate both him and his staff on the FAIRtax.  While it’s too early to think about doing that now, we’ll definitely follow through on that as the election draws closer.

Perhaps the highlight of the trip was walking around in the vendor area and hearing someone shout “Hey FAIRtax Guys!” at us.  It was Allen Waters, someone we had mentioned several times on FAIRtax Power Radio, but had never met in person.  Our new FAIRtax Power Radio shirts had caught his eye.  Like Young, Waters will be running for Congress in 2022.  He’s seeking to replace the incumbent in Rhode Island, District 1.

We need a lot more candidates like Waters—well versed in the FAIRtax and bubbling with enthusiasm for it.  He handed us one of his campaign cards.  Right near the top is the phrase “I support the FAIRtax Act in Congress”.   He gave us a great on-camera interview which was incorporated into the FAIRtax Power Radio episode that aired on Tuesday March 2.  Check it out on the FAIRtax Official Facebook page, or at

That episode also includes an interview with Kat Cammack, the newly elected Representative for Florida, District 3.  She was Congressman Ted Yoho’s Deputy Chief of Staff, and when Yoho retired from Congress, she successfully ran to replace him.  Yoho was a tireless FAIRtax supporter who carried around prebate cards in his pocket which he would hand out to anyone who would take one.  We need to thank Randy Fischer for connecting us with Representative Cammack’s staff to set up this interview.

As noted earlier, Cammack has already signed on as a FAIRtax co-sponsor.  Like Waters, she is both well versed in the FAIRtax and continues her former boss’ enthusiastic support for it.  Florida-03 is in good hands.

One thing we wanted to do was make contact with some young people who might not be familiar with the FAIRtax.  To that end, we stopped at several booths in the exhibition area.  It was encouraging to see several youth-oriented organizations there getting involved in the political process.

One such organization is GO USA.  We met a young man named Ronny Jones at their booth.  He had never heard of the FAIRtax.  When Elaine began to explain it to him, you could see his excitement level rapidly rising.  In practically no time, he concluded that the FAIRtax was a fantastic idea, and he gave us one of our better interviews.  You can see that interview in the same FAIRtax Power Radio episode that features Waters and Cammack.

Next week’s FTPR includes interviews with several more young people who were getting their first introduction to the FAIRtax.

All in all, it was both an enjoyable and productive experience, although we wish we had been able to have more FAIRtax people there and generate a bit more visibility for the FAIRtax.  CPAC is a great opportunity to get the FAIRtax in front of both political and media people.  We should definitely do this again.

Bob, Ron and Elaine are not naïve.  They know that many of the people they interview will say the right words, but are really more interested in what they can get for themselves and not necessarily what is best for the rest of us.  However, they persist with a friendly smile and know that the more they send out the FAIRtax message, the greater the likelihood that even the most self-serving politician will have to listen when enough voters demand it.

Their efforts, and the efforts of FAIRtax supporters around the country, bring to mind the words of Winston Churchill in an October 29, 1941 speech at Harrow School.  This was a time when many in his own party were saying the war was lost and he should seek peace with Hitler.  The U.S. was not in the war at the time, and there was a real fear that the German submarines would eventually destroy Britain’s merchant marine and prevent it from receiving the supplies it needed to fight on against the Germans.

Here are his words,

This is the lesson: never give in, never give in, never, never, never, never—in nothing, great or small, large or petty—never give in except to convictions of honour and good sense. Never yield to force; never yield to the apparently overwhelming might of the enemy.

Churchill persisted, and the groundwork was laid for the eventual defeat of Nazism—by allowing it to demonstrate to the world that the best society is the one that allows people the freedom to achieve their own dreams.

We must all persist.  The wall of lies erected by the Ruling Class is crumbling as more and more people see through it to what is on the other side—a world where all of us, not just a few and their minions in D.C., can prosper.

To get to the other side—ENACT THE FAIRTAX.  By eliminating the income tax, the FAIRtax eliminates the IRS and the abuses that come with it.  With the FAIRtax, you pay your federal taxes at the cash register when you make retail purchases of new goods and services.  No tax returns.  No audits.

If you have friends who don’t know about the FAIRtax, send them to  Have them watch the white boards under “How It Works” and, if they agree, ask them to please join us.

Then contact your Members of Congress and the President and demand that Congress pass -the FAIRtax—the only fair tax.

Remember, if we don't continue to tell the truth and demand a change, then this quote from George Orwell's 1984 may foretell our children's future:

“If you want a picture of the future, imagine a boot stamping on a human face—forever.”

Is it hopeless?  When confronted with a seemingly impossible problem, remember the statement attributed to the author George Bernard Shaw who wrote, You see things; and you say “Why?”  But I dream things that never were; and I say “Why not?”

Isn’t it time for us to ask, “Why not?”
