BACK TO ORANGE PARK, FLORIDA
Our Florida team was back out waving the FAIRtax flag. On Sunday, March 7, 2021, the team had a booth at the Orange Park, Florida Farmers’ and Arts Market near Jacksonville. Team Captain Manny Salinas stayed the whole time from 10:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m.
Manny had help from Kathleen Perera and Dennis Fleming, who took shifts. Harold Huggins was available to fill in as needed. State Director, Paul Livingston, helped set up and takedown.
The team got eleven names - nine with email addresses – overall, a good haul. Gathering names and email addresses is essential. We do not want the visitors to leave these events and forget about the FAIRtax. When people give us their contact information, it goes to our Database Manager, Adam Yomtov in New York. Once they’re in the system, people start receiving regular FAIRtax messages. Repeated exposure to the FAIRtax message is essential, as it generally takes around seven exposures before people really begin to pay attention.
Gathering names, as our Florida team does, also helps to build a local support base. A support base is our secret to getting Members of Congress to listen to us and cosponsor the FAIRtax.
The Orange Park Farmers’ and Arts Market takes place twice a month from September through June. Our Florida team has been getting there about every other month. Reappearing at the same venue seems to bring results through saturation. Excellent work from our volunteer team!
The day was cool and windy but no doubt warmer in Florida than it was elsewhere in the country. Florida has relatively few COVID restrictions. We look forward to the day when the warmer weather returns to the rest of the country and COVID restrictions are lifted. It has been a long time since we have been able to wave the FAIRtax flag in public.
If you’re in northeast Florida or southeast Georgia, Paul Livingston has a FAIRtax booth setup that you can borrow. Please let Paul know.
One final note. As he has done before, Manny made sure he had insurance coverage for his appearance at this event. In today’s society where lawsuits are filed seemingly at the drop of a hat, going without liability insurance at a public event like this can be disastrous.
This coverage is available to all FAIRtax grassroots volunteers who will have a presence at a public event. It’s available at no cost to you, BUT IT’S NOT AUTOMATIC. If you’re planning to have a FAIRtax presence at a public event, notify Jim Bennett in advance. Jim will then work with our insurance agent to arrange coverage for you, but again, this must be done prior to the event.
Events like the Orange Park Farmers and Arts Market are great opportunities to talk to people about the FAIRtax. We want you out in the field at these kind of events, but we also want you to be protected in the process.
I would love to hear about your plans to get back out into the public and market the FAIRtax brand.
